I started whittling! In fact, whittling is just about all I have done for the last week. It seems I an only capable of making funky little animals or mushrooms, and that is perfectly fine by me. Oh, and I’ve only cut and/or stabbed myself to the point of bleeding four times. I call that an absolute success! Aside from bandaging myself, I also hit my reading goal for this year! In fact, I’ve already exceeded it. As of this post, I have read:

    1.      Photography by Alastair Scott

    2.      Norwegian Wood Cutting by Lars Mytting

    3.      Magician: Apprentice by Raymond Feist

    4.      The Silmarillion by JRR Tolkien

    5.      Bookshops and Bonedust by Travis Baldree

    6.      The Cat Who Saved Books by Sosuke Natsukawa

    7.      The Almost Nearly Perfect People by Michael Booth

    8.      Howl’s Moving Castle by Dianna Wynne Jones

    9.      Prince Caspian by CS Lewis

    10.  Castle in the Air by Dianna Wynne Jones

    11.  The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

Frankly, a reading goal of ten books for the year is a bit silly. However, I honestly wasn’t sure if I was going to hit it. I aim for ten books each year, and I have failed over and over just because life gets too busy or I get too lazy. In fact, the only reason I’ve been able to hit eleven so far this year is because I started listening to audio books on top of reading physical books. It makes reading with a busy life much easier. Sometimes all you need to do is find a system that works for you rather than failing at the same things over and over again.

So here’s to reaching goals! Even if meeting those goals is simply a way to procrastinate other tasks that are a little more pressing such as final revisions, finding a publishing company, and many many more publishing-related things… But why do that when I can carve funny little animals?
