Publishing Updates!

It finally happened. I’ve gotten to the point in my book where I can no longer pretend I know what I’m doing. The last round of edits is complete, and I can no longer put off the actual act of publishing out of fear of failure. So what does that mean? Basically, I now have a long to-do list that I wish to be done with by the end of the summer. The end of September is my goal; I plan to at least have a release date by that time. And seeing how it is already August, I really need to stop procrastinating.
So what is bullet point number one on the list? Now that I have a complete manuscript, I think my first step is going to be formatting it. I know there are a few online programs I can use for this. Unfortunately, my budget can’t support hiring a typesetter, so I’ll have to figure the process and software out on my own. I plan on publishing two versions to start off (digital and print), so I will need to create two versions when formatting. That also means that I will need two different registration forms for copyrights. I think. There is still a lot I need to figure out, so my time the next few weeks will be dedicated to just that. I am so terrified of doing all this wrong, so I am determined to do it correctly. Or at least good enough.
In all, I am trying not to become overwhelmed by everything that still needs to be done. So in the meantime, I’m also trying to figure out the best way to start selling my art. I think starting with prints is a good way to get into it, but who knows. Everything is up in the air until I drag it back down, I suppose. Guess it’s time to start reaching.
